BitBand VOD (Video On Demand) Servers and content distribution systems

BitBand's video delivery solution allows operators to deploy advanced IPTV services such as VOD, NPVR and PLTV (Pause Live TV aka Time-Shift) today. When considering the right components for a deployment, the integration with the existing network and the flexibility to adapt to network changes play a crucial part in controlling the project risk, and ensuring a successful service. BitBand's integrated video network concept is based on three pillars, namely the flexible building blocks which can fit in any network topology; the powerful video management and content distribution capabilities of Maestro - exposing simple and network-agnostic interface for integration and the advanced network integration features such as CAC/RSVP and QoS statistics collection.
BitBand's innovative and patent-pending technology, combined with close integration with leading network equipment providers and the unparalleled over four years of real IPTV field experience, guaranties a quick and safe track to triple-play.
The BitBand “network concept” involves three major elements, namely the VDN abstraction achieved by BitBand MaestroTM, the flexible BitBand VisionTM VOD Server building blocks and the advanced network features and network integration provided by BitBand.
BitBand VisionTM VOD servers are network appliances, containing powerful streaming engines and internal storage subsystems optimized to provide stable high-performance streaming at competitive prices. BitBand VisionTM servers are used as building blocks to form powerful, scalable and low cost content delivery clusters.
BitBand Maestro software suite provides the integration and abstraction layer for the video delivery network. BitBand Maestro incorporates two main functions. The first is "NMS" like, and involves monitoring, statistics collection and remote administration of the streaming "video network elements". The second, more elaborate, function is "CDN" like in its nature and involves distributing the right content to the right place at the right time, when it comes to pre-positioning of VOD titles, and the deletion and/or distribution of recorded content when it comes to TV-on-Demand (TVOD) services such as NPVR, TSTV and PLTV.

BitBand Maestro Content Distribution
BitBand Maestro software suite provides the integration and abstraction layer for the video delivery network. BitBand Maestro incorporates two main functions. The first is "NMS" like, and involves monitoring, statistics collection and remote administration of the streaming "video network elements". The second, more elaborate, function is "CDN" like in its nature and involves distributing the right content to the right place at the right time, when it comes to pre-positioning of VOD titles, and the deletion and/or distribution of recorded content when it comes to TV-on-Demand (TVOD) services such as NPVR (Network Personal Video Recording), TSTV (Time-Shift Television) and PLTV (Pause Live Television).
By controlling the video network elements, and holding the network hierarchy, Maestro is capable of providing a Video Delivery Network (VDN) virtualization, exposing a simple manageable interface to the IPTV application and other interfacing systems. The result is a "virtual video server" that may be composed of many units spread across a network, which is abstracted and simplified, as if it was a single multi-service server. In addition, the correlation of Maestro NMS and CDN functionalities results in an efficient use of network resources, which is a crucial part of video service deployment.
