Codecs or IP Video servers are designed to convert video, audio, contact closure and data signals to and from MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 IP streams for transmission over IP networks.

This equipment is mainly used in the CCTV industry to relay signals to- and from static and PTZ cameras over IP-based networks running over fiber or CAT-5 cable in the field or over the Internet to central monitoring and/or recording locations. Optelecom-NKF has developed a new series of bandwidth efficient and cost-effective MPEG2 and Advanced MPEG4 video codec’s - the C-series and S-series. These codec’s are designed to stream video, audio and data with the highest quality and lowest latency possible over IP networks and is compatible with Optelecom-NKF's NVR and MX™ Software Suite.

Optelecom-NKF's i-NVR records IP video streams encoded with their C-series MPEG-2/4 encoders directly to hard disk. Compared to traditional DVR solutions the i-NVR saves hardware and maintenance, reducing cost of ownership and increasing system availability. The C-series codecs feature low bandwidth for DVD-quality video, ensuring optimal i-NVR storage utilization. The i-NVR is available in modular form for 8 to 65000 camera streams with up to 1024 TB of RAID-5 level storage. It synchronously records, replays and archives with full frame rate on all channels. Combining the i-NVR with MX™ software suite makes remote management and reviewing simple and effective.
