Optibase IPTV Encoding Headend Systems
|
|
When deploying Full Service Networks (FSN’s) that offer end-to-end voice, data and video services, carriers need video head end solutions that give them the competitive edge. The difference rests on reliability, availability, flexibility and quality of service.
Optibase's IPTV platforms give carriers that and more: By deploying Optibase's highly respected IPTV platforms, carriers stream quality video and audio over IP networks. Optibase's platforms support MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and H.264 AVC transmissions in standard and high definition.

MGW-1100 IPTV Encoding Headend
|
|
For TV over IP Broadcast Services the MGW-1100, an integrated carrier grade TV streaming platform, enables small-to-medium-sized TV over IP broadcast services, such as those required by Telco’s and Service Providers, for applications like regional head-end or MDU (Multi Dwelling Units) TV streaming. MGW 1100 provides encoding, transcoding, transrating (rate shaping) and recasting at the edge of service providers’ TV distribution network or at MDU access points, and offers low cost real-time TV streaming services for service providers. With its advanced video processing and streaming functionalities, the MGW 1100 can support over 100 video and audio channels concurrently. It is an ideal solution for providers who intend to stream a relatively small number of channels. The MGW-1100 is a multi format (H.264/MPEG2/MPEG1), multi channel (up to 12) encoder and transcoder (From MPEG2 TS to MPEG2/MPEG1) with transrating capabilities. (Up to 30 channels per unit)

MGW-1100 Key Features:
- High Availability
- N+K redundancy – The ability to configure a back-up board or boards for a different number of boards. (For example, 1 board will be configured as back-up to the other five in the system.) N+K redundancy requires the Cluster Manager Software.
- 1+1 redundancy – The ability to configure a back-up board to each of the boards of the unit. (This means that if there are 6 boards in the unit, only 3 are active, and 3 are configured as back-ups.)
- Hot swapping - Boards can be put in or taken out of the chasses while system is on and running.
- Multiple redundant power supplies
- Inputs
- Video – Composite (BNC), S-Video (Two BNCs), and SDI (BNC.)
- Audio – Balanced (BNC), Unbalanced (XLR), AES-EBU (XLR), and embedded.
- DVB-ASI.
- Processing
- DVB-ASI – MPTS to multiple SPTS – Digital Turnaround – Recasting the DVB-ASI input over IP. (In multicast or unicast)
- Up to 60mbps per premium service board – 360mbps total bit rate per unit. (Using the rear streaming option – with SW version 3.5 and above)
- Supports 1080i, 720p HDTV profiles from DVB/ASI feed
- Transcoding DVB-ASI input from MPEG2 Transport Stream to MPEG4 H.264, MPEG2 CBR, or MPEG1
- Transrating (Rate Shaping) – From a high bit-rate MPEG2 VBR (Statistical multiplex) or CBR to a lower bit-rate at CBR.
- Up to 30 channels per unit (5 per board)
- Encoding: H.264, MPEG2, MPEG1
- Up to 12 channels in one unit. (When no redundancy is configured)
- Supports Simple Profile (SP@ML) – Low latency (300ms end to end with Tilgin or Amino STB)
- Output
- IP (100 Base-T or GigaBit Ethernet)
- Maximum throughput from the host* – 90mbps (With SW version 3.5 and an upgrade to the new host.)
- Physical measurements
- The unit is 4RU height, 19” width and 12” depth.

MGW-5100 IPTV Encoding Headend

MGW 5100 lets carriers stream top quality TV over broadband IP networks such as xDSL and FTTx. MGW 5100 is a modular multi-service platform that encodes, transcodes, transmits and recasts MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG 4 AVC/H.264, MPEG- 4 or Windows Media video channels in real-time. With MGW 5100, carriers get flexibility, scalability and reliability in an integrated carrier grade TV streaming platform that combines Optibase's vast expertise in digital video, DVB encoding and streaming over IP or ATM networks. The MGW 5100 and MGW 1100 are complemented by a suite of professional management solutions, which enable intuitive, simple management of multiple platforms and hundreds of channels from one centralized application. These capabilities provide head-end managers and technical staff with powerful tools to monitor, diagnose and operate the systems from any a central SNMP-based interface.
The MGW 5100 is an integrated solution composed of several hardware and software components that are fully integrated into one modular carrier grade system. The design approach is “Telco Oriented,” vs. “Cable Oriented.” The MGW 5100 uses cable broadcast design concepts and adapts them to best fit Telco availability requirements.

Optibase’s MGW 5100 hardware components:
- System chassis with IP based backplane, alarm module, fans and set of power supply units. The MGW 5100 chassis consists of a standard 10RU rack with 17 slots at the front and rear. Backplane is based on the CPSB 2.16 standard – IP packets over backplane. The supplied Internal Fast Ethernet switch when installed creates a full IP network environment. CPSB 2.16 architecture eases communication over the backplane. IP network communication over the backplane increases the reliability of the platform by avoiding the drawbacks of a shared bus. The MGW 5100 chassis and management application offer redundancy for power supplies, fans, system control boards and service boards.
- Common boards: Fast Ethernet switch and host controller
- Service Boards: Interface rear boards, encoding & streaming front boards.
- All Front and Rear boards are hot swappable.
- All cards are automatically recognizable by the unit upon insertion.
The MGW 5100 software components include management software for control and fault management.
